Natural energy foods : Maca

“I’m tired”, “I’m wiped out”, so on and so on. How many times do you hear these phrases every single day. Most people in the US are constantly fatigued, cranky, and groggy. Now many of my A-alikes who are vegan/raw foodists will not usually have these sentiments because we are so engaged and focused on being in great health.

But WE KNOW MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT. Most people are guzzling coffee or taking terribly detrimental quick fixes from convenience stores like  drug addicts. So if you would like to avoid all the detriments those quick energy fixes have on you, and in return receive GREAT benefits of all sorts than let me tell you about the maca plant.

Maca is a root plant that grows in the Andes mountains of Peru. Peruvians have been using this root for centuries for various reasons. An aquantaince of mine who is from Peru attested to this. I told him I was using maca and his response was, “ohh yeah maca it’s very good mayne , for everything.” Maca is a potent adaptogen which means it boosts and balances everything in the body, your endocrine system, liver etc etc. Improves vigor and significantly boosts energy and calms nerves. The first time I took a tablespoon and put it into a green smoothie I was able to do cardio work for hours afterwords. It was like I was the energizer rabbit. Another huge  benefit especially for women  is the hormone balance because many people are suffering in that area and maca will do the trick with ease.

So where can you find this wonderful root? Well just about every healthfood store and most of the higher quality supermarkets. If all else fails you can find it online. What I do is take a tablespoon( it comes in powder form) and add it to a fruit smoothie, however it can be used however you like I just find that in a smoothie it’s assimilated better. It can be pricey, depending on where you go it can be 10-15 dollars for an 8 oz bag for example. There is no reason to skimp on your personal health though. People who suffer from the deficiency mentality and always have to “save” are usually very sick themselves. So don’t cheat yourself . If you want sustainable energy with no jitters or aftereffects do yourself a favor and try some maca.- Sutekh

Why soy is NOT a good alternative.

When I hopped on the vegetarian band-wagon a few years ago the dilemna was, “ok now that I’m not eating chicken, or fish or burgers what do I eat now.” I would walk into a store and look around for alternatives after I did a little research . So I would wander through the isles and see soy dogs, soy burgers, soy cheese, soy milk etc.  Just grab all of it and throw it in the cart lol. When I found out what soy was and what it did however that all stopped. I now try to avoid it as much as possible even though soy is in nearly EVERYTHING there is to buy.

Now there are just a laundry list of reasons why you should NOT consume soy products. Here are a few examples:

  • Phytic acid from soy reduces absorbtion of VITAL minerals such as calcium and magnesium.
  • Soy phytoestrogens throw your endocrine system out of wack. Impacts sexual organs of men and women.
  • Depletes vitamin b-12
  • Contains high levels of aluminum
  • In soy  infant formula, soy BLOCKS TESTOSTERONE PRODUCTION in boys.

To add insult to injury there are extremely suspect and shady production practices in the soy industry.http://www.naturalnews.com/026294.html    Check out this article.

Fortunately however, the vegan/vegitarian/raw food industry has been expanding at a rapid pace and genuinely healthy and beneficial alternatives have arisen.

To replace  SOY MILK

  • hemp milk
  • almond milk
  • rice milk
  • oat milk

To replace SOY “MEATS”

  • wheat gluten meat substitute
  • brown rice meat substitute
  • sunflower seed based meat substitute

To replace SOY SPREADS

  • virgin coconut oil

To replace SOY CHEESE

  • Rice Cheese

These are just some of the wonderful alternatives and many inventive talented people are coming up with new alternatives all the time so be on the lookout.- Sutekh

5 mean green and inexpensive cleaning items.

With the green movement having completely taken off at this point you are guarenteed to spot new environmentally friendly cleaning products in the store. These products provide a safe and ecologically sound alternative to the chemi-kill based commercial brand cleaning products which contain materials which have never even been tested for safety around humans. Even though we have green cleaning products available they are very expensive.  There is good news however. Some very inexpensive but potent items can be used to do the same things as the green cleaning products and go MUCH easier on your wallet.

1 Hydrogen peroxide- The classic cut and scrape cleaner from childhood is an extremely potent cleaning item. It breaks down dirt physically(not chemically) at the molecular level. Kills germs and dissipates into simple water after the oxygen has left. Put in a non transparent spray bottle to preserve potency.

2 Baking soda-gentle non-abrasive cleanser that is slightly alkaline which completely neutralizes odor.Mix with water.

3 White vinegar-great for wooden floors. Acidic so it’s great for gunky buildup. Mix a 1/2 cup with a gallon.

4 Grapefruit seed extract- germicidal powerhouse add 20 drops of this to a quart of water.

5 Tea tree oil-great for bathrooms, kills mold and mildew. 2 teaspoons in 2 cups of water and put in spray bottle.

Here are just five Items  you can use. There is literally a laundry list of items you can use and they won’t break your wallet. I find these five to be most effective though.-Sutekh

Full Spectrum light:help defeat emotional issues.

As the sun goes through its cycles it seems that our emotional cycles (for me at least) correspond to this. During the winter here on the east coast the suns visits feel few and far in between making it a literally “dark age”. The winter comes and people’s spirits also become colder. People aren’t as friendly or outgoing. People spend more time in front of the tv and more time hibernating. This lack of light in your life can lead to and many times does lead to emotional issues.I for one suffered from what is referred to as Seasonal Affective Disorder(SAD)

In my house my mother always had a prism in the window and when the sun would beam through the window into the prism rainbows would be painted all over the wall. This is because the sunlight is not simply a light like the average light bulb, but an array of hues  that provide your body with chakral center support and balance. We need to get rid of the fear based beliefs that the sun is somehow an enemy of mankind, when it is the sun that triggers  life. The sunlight deficient or should I say areas of the earth that are exposed to the sun less, also are the most barren places you will ever see. If you go to the equator regions you will find the they are booming with all sorts of lifeforms.

It’s almost summer now and that may cause some people to wonder why I would write this now. Here is the thing though. Many people are cooped up in a far off dungeon in an office building somewhere , many for long hours. So long that when they get out the sun is down already. People who work in these environments can’t be happy people. That is just my opinion though and I am not all knowing. If you aren’t happy though, then maybe there is help.

Full spectrum lighting is an excellent substitute for the sun. These type of lights are used in “light therapy” which is a therapy used to treat sun related emotional issues and there is also sun therapy. If you happen to be working in an environment that keeps you away from the sunlight. You can purchase a clip on lamp or any type of table lamp and use a full spectrum light bulb along with it and viola, there you have a sun without the sun. It’s your own light therapy session, AT WORK!

For your household when the sun starts creeping away on its winter vacation you can purchase these bulbs for around the same prices as the standard incadescent bulb at your local hardware store, most drug store chains also carry them now too. Extremely easy to install and many companies tout that the life of the bulb is much longer than the standard bulb.

Adding these bulbs will work wonders for you. They helped my SAD tremendously and you don’t have to be rich to recieve the benefits.-Sutekh

The art of buying produce

Many people haphazardly go into the grocery store and just look for the specific fruit or vegetable etc, that they want and look for the healthiest looking one and keep it moving. There is a PLU codex however that can lead you on the right path and not only that you can check to see if your local store is honest.

Organic produce should have a 5 digit PLU# number that begins with 9. This produce will tend to be more expensive but the quality is supposed to be of higher caliber.

Conventional produce should have  a 4 digit PLU# number that beings with 4. This produce uses pesticides, chemical fertilizers and so on.

Genetically modified(GMO) produce will have a 4 digit PLU# that begins with 3. This produce uses conventional means of growing, but the produce’s structure (building blocks) has been tinkered with to a desired outcome. Examples being seedless fruit, seedless watermelon, hybrid fruit are a few.

You must exercise your own caution when buying produce even with the above knowledge. I have purchased organically grown produce that CONTAINS NO SEEDS!!! Now this produce has clearly been GM’d, but is stated as organic. There usually will be many different suppliers that supply a single type of produce to a store. So you will have to find which supplier has the correctly stated produce.

This memorial day, give thanks

Memorial day is just a day off from work for many people. It’s a federal day off to pay homage to those who fought in the nations many conflicts. What I want people to do is to remember to give thanks on this day and all so-called days off. Thanks that you  and your loved ones are healthy. Thanks that you or a loved one is not in a conflict. Give thanks because a glass with anything in it is something to be grateful for. -Sutekh

Generosity Leads to Abundance – 5 Principles of Generosity

Generosity Leads to Abundance – 5 Principles of Generosity and How They Can Change Your Life
By Pat L Anderson

Generosity leads to abundance. Do you have to wait till your dreams come true before you can be generous? In our heads we know the answer is “No” but do we know that in our hearts? Generosity is a gift we give to the world every day. In fact, if you live by the principles of generosity you will be blessed with abundance.

Learning to be generous even while you are still experiencing difficulties can be a hard lesson but the rewards are life-changing. You have the ability to change your difficult situation by practicing generosity. Let’s discover more about how we can be generous and as a result, change the abundance we will have in our life.

The Principles of Generosity:

1.   Tithing. Giving back 10% of your income is the first principle of wealth. It doesn’t matter which personal development book you read, the great leaders have learned this principle and practice it faithfully. Giving to your place of worship is the first thing you must learn to do regularly.

2.   A bigger perspective. Principle #2 is to take our eyes off ourselves. Instead of focusing on ourselves we must look for a need. There are people all around you that have greater needs than you do. Find the people you could help and be creative in ways you could help them.

3.   Serve others. Learning to be a servant to others strengthens your generosity muscle. Find ways that you can serve in your community, in your church, in any place where you spend time or see a need.

4.   Help the hurting. Many people go through their days experiencing grief, loneliness and pain. Small gestures of compassion could change their lives. You have the power to make a difference in their lives with your generosity.

5.   What you give, you receive. What is it you need in your life? Whatever you give to others is how you will be repaid. Are you generous with your time? People will be quick to reciprocate you with time. Are you generous with your possessions? You will always have access to the tools you may need. Would you like to receive more money? Be generous with what you have.

Practice these principles of generosity and watch your life change from needy to abundance.

Divine intelligence is amazing

When you look out your window or step outside (given you live outside a densely populated city and even then possibly) it is truly amazing to see everything at work. The entire scope of life, the birds the bees, ants working in synergy, squirrels burying acorns, the entirety of it,its surface complexity yet deep simplicity is something that needs to be witnessed. Take a time out from the hustle and bustle of modern life and take a minute.

Every being has their position to play. A role. They all play it very well.EXCEPT FOR HUMANS. Now I could go on a rant about what humans are doing to the earth and to fellow humans and huemans .I’m simply going to speak on the diet of humans and the confusion because of various conditioning apparatuses and set it straight.

Most everyone knows of the three types of food consumers on the planet. Herbivore, Carnivore, and Omnivore. There are clear characteristics of a Carnivore. The claws, large mouth opening to swallow large pieces of flesh whole, the short digestive tract among other things. Clearly humans don’t have claws, and also humans can’t swallow large pieces of flesh whole?

I know I’m preaching to the choir here so I’m going to take it a step further. WHY are we eating vegetables? If one looks at the way vegetables grow, which is at the ground level. You have vegetables like romaine, kale, collard greens all grow right next to ground and grains like oats, barley, quinoa, wheat etc. To me at least it looks like those vegetables and grains are meant for 4 legged animals with long necks that are grazers , like a horse, or buffalo, wildabeast. You have the root vegetables like the beet, the carrot for example that are in the ground possibly to protect it for animals like rabbits .and other medium sized rodents who have shovel like claws and burrow underground. Then you have nuts and seeds which small rodents pick up and eat but animals like horses, carnivorous animals wouldn’t be able to pick up.You have the birds who can eat seeds out of a flowering tree or a tall flower like the sunflower where they are safe from predators below. Green vegetables don’t taste very good I have to be honest. The taste may be an indicator saying ” THIS IS NOT FOR YOU”

What I believe as humans we were meant to eat at the very start is simply fruit. Fruit requires dexterity to eat, A horse will have a hard time eating berries, or a pear.A wild boar wont be able to peel open a banana. What about mangos. What hooved herbivore can eat something like that besides the various kinds of primate herbivores like the silverback gorilla. In the bible it says to eat of flesh that bares seeds and let food be your medicine. ENOUGH SAID. Fruit bares seeds(if you can find seeded fruit and you should be able to) and fruit is color coded almost to match chakras as if to say you are lacking in the sexual realm (chakra) eat watermelon(aphrodisiac), or Have some strawberries(I don’t know about yall but strawberries are essential in love making sometimes.) If your digestive tract and stomach are troubling you(2nd and third chakras.) You have some Lemon water to clear out the liver. Orange and grapefruit to clear the mucus out of your stomach and intestines . The Kiwi which is green (heart chakra) a supreme source of potassium which helps blood pressure ..and prevent strokes . God tells no lies!

The answers are under your nose. They are all around you hidden in plain sight. There are many pervayers of confusion and falsehood that will misdirect you. If you are conscious and just be, a different word will unfold in front of your eyes.

Peace

Rise in Teenage Entrepreneurship

http://www.usatoday.com/money/smallbusiness/2009-05-18-teen-entrepreneurs-start-businesses_N.htm

Job scarcity is driving the rise of teenage entrepreneurship. This seems to be the argument of the free market political philosophy. That when people are left with few or no options for employment, great inventions and concepts are born. It’s a good read.

Gifts We Give Ourselves

Friends

Good friends enrich our lives in so many ways. Through a magical combination of similarities and differences, friends offer us the opportunity to know ourselves as we are and help us grow into who we want to be. Our similarities attract us to each other, comforting us with familiarity when we see ourselves in them. When we are drawn to those we admire, the same recognition is at work, unconsciously acknowledging that these people possess qualities that we ourselves possess. By acting as mirrors, friends help us define who we are by reflecting our selves back to us.

Friends also help us know ourselves through our differences. Differences allow us to see other options and make choices about who we want to be. Sometimes we are drawn to those who appear to be our opposites, and we learn to accept the parts of them we love and the parts of them that don’t resonate with us, thus allowing us a valuable learning experience. By expanding our understanding to include others’ experiences, friends help us accept others. By understanding when someone’s life differs from our own, we can learn about ourselves in contrast. There are times when we see in friends what we don’t like about ourselves. That mirror reflection may be hard to take, but a good friend helps us find ways we can change and supports us in that choice.

Part of the joy of friendship is the feeling that we are accepted just the way we are, with no need to change. It is a gift they give us, and one we can give back every day. Ultimately, we choose friends because they make us feel good about ourselves and life. Through tears and difficulties, friends help us find the laughter. When we find those special people who offer us that perfect combination of comfort and stimulus to grow, we are very fortunate. Friends, those wonderful companions that walk with us through life, help us define and refine who we are and who we choose to be every day. – Daily OM
