Burdock Root:Potent blood detoxification tea.

Burdock root is a potent blood detoxifier and an excellent source of iron, which is depleted by soy. Burdock also contains calcium, potassium, and flavanoids. Since various skin ailments are attributed to toxicity in the blood, Burdock root is excellent for eczema, psoriasis, and other skin ailments. Burdock is also a diaretic and helps flush the kidneys of uric acid, so make sure you are hydrated when taking burdock.

Burdock is the main ingredient in essiac tea, which is one of the top alternative cancer remedies. My father makes essiac tea all the time and I noticed when I started making burdock root tea, that the smell was nearly identical. Essiac tea is a little bit pricey however and it’s much less expensive and just as effective to buy burdock root by itself and boil your own tea.You can find Burdock root in many whole food grocery stores like Whole Foods Market, but you can also find it in farmers markets, and oriental grocery stores. So I am going to tell you how I make my burdock root tea.

1-Cut off 4 inch slice of burdock, cut that piece in half, put into pot.

2-pour 4-6 cups of clean, purified, preferably distilled or reverse osmosis filtered water into pot.

3- Bring water to boil and let steep.

There you have an Iron rich, blood detoxifying tea.

FACT: The World Health Organization considers iron deficiency the number 1 nutritional order in the world, affecting over 30% of the worlds population.

TIP: add Yellow dock to enhance it’s detoxifying and nutritional properties.

7 green tips for a toxin free home.

We think our home is a safe refuge from toxins in the environment, think again. Toxicity in the body and mind manifests from home. So here are some tips to free yourself from a toxin infested home environment.
1- Save yourself from toxic formaldehyde exposure by sleeping on untreated cotton sheets.Formaldehyde exposure can cause insomnia and respiratory problems, among other symptoms. Sidestep formaldehyde-coated polyester/cotton sheets and no-iron cotton sheets and choose cozy cotton flannel sheets or untreated cotton percale sheets, both available at major department stores and online.

2- Protect yourself from exposure to toxic ammonia by washing your windows with vinegar and water. Ammonia can cause irritation of the eyes and respiratory tract, and burn your skin. Instead, mix distilled white or apple cider vinegar half-and-half with water in a spray bottle. Spray on windows and wipe with recycled newspapers for a streak-free super shine.

3-Use green, soap-based cleaning products instead of poisonous detergent. While detergents seem safe, they are a petrochemical-based product that is responsible for more household poisonings than any other substance. Soap, on the other hand, is made from natural oils and minerals and has been safely used for centuries. Natural and organic, green soap-based products can be found in natural food stores and online.

4-Refill your own non-plastic water bottle instead of using toxic plastic water bottles. While it’s good for your health to carry your own water and drink it throughout the day, if it’s in a clear polycarbonate plastic bottle, it is leaching a toxic substance into your water–even if the bottle is sitting on table at room temperature. Bisphenol-A. BPA is a potent hormone disruptor that can impair the reproductive organs and have adverse effects on breast tissue and prostate development. Drink from a glass bottle or carry an aluminum or steel bottle, available online.

5- Avoid hazardous pesticides by making dinner using fresh, organically-grown produce. Most food sold in supermarkets are sprayed heavily with pesticides, many of which cause cancer. Find out where to buy pesticide-free organically grown food in your community, go there and purchase what looks good and is in season. One taste and youll go back for more. A great variety of organically-grown food can also be ordered on-line.If you must buy conventional produce, you can wash in a green citrus based cleaner or dilute hydrogen peroxide in water and scrub with vegetable brush.

6- Wash away petrochemical perfumes and take a botanical bath. Many commercial bath products contain detergents and artificial fragrances that can be irritating to sensitive areas. You can have a luxurious relaxing bath by adding natural substances to warm bathwater, such as fragrant dried or fresh herbs (try lavender, rosemary, or peppermint), a quart of buttermilk, or 1 cup Epsom salts. For bubbles, use a natural or organic soap, available in natural food stores and online.

7- Use houseplants.- They inhale the carbon dioxide we exhale and they exhale oxygen we need to survive. Certain plants like the spider plant remove some pollutants.

Michael Jackson: broken heart.

I’m still shocked over the passing of the “king of pop.” Growing up, Michael Jackson was the guy to be like. The slick moves on stage made all all the girls go wild and we used to want to be like this Mike just as much as that “other” Mike. A number of instantly recognizable hits and many memorable album cuts made Michael Jackson the biggest star in the omniverse. What happened to him though, is just so sad.

Controversy

New details today reveal that foul play may have been involved in his death. Michael Jackson bought the Beatles catalog recently and is estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars now. Unfortunately when one owns something with such monetary value attached to it a lot of envious “haters” will be on your back. It just seems to be one of those things, when you have something someone else wants you will attract the attention of vultures. Michael was known to be on strong pain medication ever since his injury on the set of the famous Pepsi commercial. It has been well known for a while that Michael has been sadly addicted to pain medication. So as more is revealed (or in many cases hidden) we will hopefully see the truth come out. There are also theories of Michael Jackson, among many other celebrities, being in under mind control by the CIA MK-ULTRA program. You have to ask who stands the most to gain and then take it from there. So there may be some wrongdoing by people involved in that situation.

Broken heart

Michael Jackson has had no shortage of health problems and has sought the help of allopathic doctors, herbalists, and holistic healers. In the 80’s Jackson was said to have been addicted to pain killers. Metaphysically speaking says that he was carrying a huge burden, he may have been carrying many people on his back financially which is why he was in such debt now.In the 90’s Jackson was diagnosed with vitilgo, and underwent many plastic surgeries including the famous nose job. As recently as last year, Michael was said to have a rare respiratory disorder and needed to have a transplant, a claim he denied. Lung problems denote that he had a huge grief burden that he could not breath, he couldn’t take in the fullness of his life. Finally, as of now he has passed due to cardiac arrest, which metaphysically means the love was completely squeezed out of his life, the joy was gone. He had a broken heart. Michael was known to have many issues with his parents, specifically his father and could never seem to gain their approval. Love was not something abundant in Michael’s life it appears. Through the child molestation trial and the controversy surrounding his children it seems like he was just never understood. So much turmoil and not knowing where you belong will bring forth a slew of health ailments and ultimately an untimely passing. Adoration by fans who pass you on the street and kudos from the media cannot replace the unconditional love of family and close, true friends. This is where the deficit was.

Michael’s tormented soul is finally free however. He left us with great music and his live performances were some of the best ever to be put on with the amount of energy and electricity put out. He will be forever missed and while it’s sad that he’s dropped his physical body, you would have to think his soul is glad it is finally free.-Sutekh

will be updated as more details revealed

Superfoods: Hype? Or real deal.

Increasingly popular amongst health conscious individuals, especially in the “raw food” community are what have been referred to as “super-foods.” I’m sure if you’re reading this you have heard the term by now. These are exotic and highly rich fruits, herbs, root vegetables etc, that are being touted as containing an extraordinary amount of benefits from healing dis-eases to drastically slowing down aging. Should you be consuming these superfoods and will you benefit?

Hype or the real thing.

From my experience my answer would be a little bit of both. You will not be instantly healed from an ailment or experience a “fountain of youth” effect (for most) off the bat as some marketers would claim. So don’t go out there thinking that these are miracle foods. However, they are incredibly nutrient packed and you will, over time realize that these foods are very beneficial, some like the cacao and maca do offer instant benefits. These superfoods tend to come from the most sun kissed and mineral rich places on the planet . This is the real key. Northern, sun deprived climates do not offer much, if any vegetation. The opposite is true about sun kissed, tropic regions. Plant life is booming and the soil is extremely rich in minerals. Central America, South America, “West Indies,” Central Africa, and just about all regions close to the equator. An acquaintance of mine who is from Guatamala was talking to me about health in his country. He said,” You know my country the people are poor, but they are very healthy and live a long time. I don’t know what is this with American people, everyone is sick here”. He told me about this man who was a chicken farmer that was 106 yrs old and he would walk a few miles to market chewing tobacco everyday. I was kind of floored by that because I know in the tropic regions people lived a lot longer but to engage in hard labor at that age is amazing. He told me chia seeds are consumed for fats, proteins, and to keep intestines clean and his mother made cereal with chia. I know I’m getting a little off topic, but the point being is that these superfoods are not so super to the natives of the regions where they are harvested. They are just food and the people the inhabit these places tend to live a longer, more healthy, and more productive life.

NavitasNaturals.com – Goji, Acai, Cacao, Maca… Superfoods!

Should you use superfoods?

I would recommend that everyone should at least try some for yourself. Some I personally don’t care for others, like the maca, cacao, and chia I really like using. The fiber and Omega’s from the Chia are just excellent. The Maca is the most potent energy, adaptogen I have ever used as I have said in previous posts. Cacao is a truely healthy chocolate substitute. Personally I use the maca and cacao together for a double energy punch. I hope you all try a superfood and reap the benefits, because though it is a bit of hype the enormous benefits cannot be denied. I will explore the individual superfoods in more detail in the future so stay tuned. Thanks for reading.-Sutekh

This Father’s Day, go veg.

This Father’s Day go veg. As we celebrate our loved ones day of recognition, let’s take a step in a different direction. If you are eating out today, try a raw food/vegan/vegetarian restaurant. It is an ever growing and expanding segment of the dining industry geared towards healthy food choices. Many of the ones I have been to have a great intimate “family” feel and ambiance to them. Pricing varies as some restaurants aim towards conscious, more healthy fast food alternatives and others are “fine dining”, and then there’s everything in between. If someone plans to throw down in the kitchen (cook), try a vegan recipe. There’s nothing that tops a home cooked or prepared meal. So on this Father’s Day take your loved one to eat something that will benefit their health and yours and/or your families. This doesn’t have to be a life changing or altering experience. Just try it!

This is a wonderful directory of vegan/vegetarian restaurants. Simply type in your location and a list of restaurants will come up:

Here are two sites of raw food/Vegan/Vegetarian recipes for those at home:

Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there and BON APETIT!

Technology or wreck-nology.

As I am typing this on my laptop and twittering at the same time, it is clear that most of us in this information age are almost cyborgs having a cellphone attached to one hand and an Ipod to the other. Adolescents are glued to there sidekicks, Iphones, and blackberries so much so that without them they seem lost. If you go downtown in any major city or walk on any university campus it’s very eery how many people are on their mobile devices completely oblivious to their surroundings. I see places where there will be 5 or 6 people standing outside a building for a quick break or a smoke and they will all be on their cellphones even though there are 5 other people standing immediately next to them. I like to just stand outside and observe behavior like this being the “scientist” that I am. It kind of makes me feel like I’m on a completely different planet than most folks however. People tell me that anyway lol (oops there’s that netspeak creeping in). Driver’s now rely on gps units instead of their own internal compass and map reading skills. Muscles atrophy as white collar worker types sit at a desk on the computer all day. This is not to bash technology, it’s just that we need to be mindful and not mindless when it comes to the effects.

Social implications

It seems as we become more connected, the further we stand at least in my view. Speaking to people hundreds even thousands of miles away before we see our neighbors. This is understandable because we all have different interests and our neighbors, family and so naturally will not always have those interests. It is coming to the point however, where people seem to be in bubbles or cocoons and this is detrimental to society without question. We lose the ability to tune in to the vibrational frequencies of others, the ebb and flow of a conversation. Have you ever talked to someone and it felt like you were talking to a robot? Like they were unable to pick up the frequencies that you were giving out? Maybe even talking over you? I have heard of situations where text messages have been exchanged then the recipients found the texts offensive and the two stopped speaking and even started “beefing” with each other over text messages. Text messages have no vibrational frequency, no astrology and it’s very easy to mis-construe a text message because there is no emotion or tone given as opposed to speaking in person. In my opinion social skills have been diminishing. So use technology to “connect” with people, but after you connect make sure you really “link-up.” It is important to keep our pineal gland tuned up and tuned in with all that is around us.

Physical and spiritual implications

News has been buzzing about the bees (pun intended). Bees have been dying in monumental numbers and researchers can’t seem to figure out why. There are those who say the cell phone towers and radio waves in the air are confusing the bees causing them to fly into things and places they normally would not. I tend to agree with this sentiment and here is why. Multiple times during the summer in recent years the electricity would go out. As soon as it would go out I would feel as if a “weight” was lifted off my shoulders. This “weight” I immediately assumed was the various radio waves passing through our bodies ( WI-fi, cellphone, TV, antenna, radios, etc). Now this “weight” was gone and it felt wonderful. One could only imagine what kind of weight bees feel from these strong waves. What are these waves doing to our bodies though.

For one they are interrupting or blocking our pineal gland function. The pineal is the radio center of our body and if other frequencies are crossing through us than we are being interrupted. This helps to disconnect us from the source, from nature. It diminishes our ability to reach our higher selves and a higher frequency as a collective. Different neurological problems have been said to be possibly caused by the use of cell phones and radio waves. Since our brains are electrical radio waves can cause disturbances in our brain functions as well.

What should you do?

There are a few things you can do immediately:
- Unplug all electronic items that are not in use.
- When cellphone is off, remove battery.

Also:
- Purchase an orgone pyramid, place above PC, Large TV.
- Purchase emf diodes for cellphones, laptops, and other smaller radio devices.
- Quartz crystals for your car or pocket when on the go.

With technology ever changing and cell-phone usage increasing it will mean that more radio towers will be built and we will become more “connected”. These tips however will help you to beat all the negative affects of technology while utilizing all the amazing benefits it has to offer. Thanks for reading!-Sutekh

5 natural, green moisturizing sunscreens.

It’s almost summer again and beach season is arriving quickly. Sunbathers, outdoors people, beach “bums”, athletes and everyone else will be outside bearing skin. Many people will be using sunscreens to protect themselves from what they perceive as a dangerous sun. If you are using commercial brand sunscreens you are starting off on the wrong path already. They contain aluminum (look for these names for example, aluminum hydroxide, aluminum oxide, aluminum silicate, aluminum stearate, aluminum starch octenylsuccinate) which is a known neurotoxin and PRO-oxidant. It has many researchers believing that the sun is not responsible for the skin cancers, but in fact the aluminum in the sunscreens. If you are concerned about skin aging than a substance containing a pro-oxidant is not the way to go. You should opt for a holistic, green sunscreen. Something that acts as an ANTI-oxidant, and that moisturizes and protects your skin. I am going to show you 5 holistic, eco friendly, and green alternatives to the TOXIC commercial brand sunscreens.

1- Unrefined Shea butter-Butter extracted from the nut of the Karite tree which is found in West African countries like Ghana .High fatty acid content, excellent moisturizer. Excellent sunscreen. Great for skin ailments.

2-Cocoa butter-Fat extracted from the cocoa bean. The BEST moisturizer. good anti-inflammatory action, good water resistance for beach goer’s. Not as pricey as the Shea butter.

3-Extra Virgin Coconut oil-Extracted from the coconut. Great moisturizer, great skin protection against anti-oxidants. Good sunscreen.

4-Advocado oil-Extracted from the inside of the avocado.Great sunscreen, stimulates collagen production. Anti wrinkling oil.

5-olive oil-- Good sunscreen, good moisturizer. Cost effective.

I’ve shown you 5 natural, safe, and green sunscreen alternatives. These can be used in conjunction for on their own. There has been a movement now within retail to sell aluminum-less sunscreens, also more natural sunscreens so those options are also available now, but these are 100% all natural sunscreens with no ingredients you can’t pronounce and have a laundry list of additional benefits. Enjoy the sun!-Sutekh

Tip: For sunburns, use jojoba oil or aloe vera gel. These are extremely potent anti-inflammatories that will have you completely forget about the burn.
