We know high fructose corn syrup is bad, but Agave?

Curtis Duncan breaks down the problem with Agave Nectar ( a substitute widely used among the raw food/vegan community)

Unfortunately many have been misled in regards to Agave nectar (which isn’t really nectar at all). This is dissappointing to me personally because I have used this product many times, always been a little suspicious of it, but not enough to warrant extensive research. Well the jury is back with the verdict and it’s not good. Maple syrup and unrefined cane sugar, stevia are still good alternatives but I will touch on one I have just begun using that is very unrefined and unprocessed.

Palm Sugar

A staple sweetener in Asia (Thailand,Cambodia, and India to name a few countries). This sugar is derived from different palm plants, like coconut palm, date palm. Sap is extracted from the palm, boiled in water until it evaporates after which the sugar crystallizes. The sugar is either sold as a semi-liquid or granules and can be light brown to dark caramel in color.

Touted benefits

For one it has a glycemic index of 35. It is very good for those with pancreatic and liver problems. Rich in B-vitamins, various minerals like Calcium, Iron, and phosphorus. It also contains amino acids so this sugar appears possibly to be even beneficial. At the end of the day however it is still a sugar and should be consumed only moderately.

I have also been tinkering with an Iced Tea recipe using only Organic Tea and palm sugar so I will post it once I have the formula worked out. Thanks for reading-Sutekh

My Interview with water expert and best-selling author John Hinds.

I have had the privilege to interview John Hinds, author of the Amazon best-selling book “What’s in your water“, a book that speaks about the hidden dangers lurking in all forms of potable water. John is also the president and founder of thefreewaterreport.org which is dedicated to bringing awareness and up to date information about the state of our water supply. John thank you for taking some time out to answer some questions.

Sutekh: What event or events sparked the cause for concern about our drinking water?

JH:Great question. There have been a few events that cause concern about our water and the one that sticks out is the AP Story from March 2008 that reported that pharmaceutical drugs were found in the tap water of 28 major U.S. Cities, putting at least 41 million Americans at risk.

Sutekh:That’s very alarming,Is this what inspired you to write this book?

JH: Well, it wasn’t just that. I have done extensive research and discovered that pharmaceutical drugs are just the tip of the iceberg. Approximately 249 million Americans consume tap water (drink, cook and shower) and it’s contaminated with a variety of substances. Weed killer, pesticides, oil and other chemicals have been found in tap water. So, I wrote the book to educate consumers on the dangers of tap water and to provide them with solutions to making it safe again. In fact, even the chlorine that municipalities put in tap water to kill bacteria is harmful to humans.

Sutekh: That is a lot of harmful substances. You mention chlorine, in my own research one issue I found chlorine causes is it allows candida overrun the human body. What kind of effects are these chemicals having on us and how are they getting in there?

JH: Well, basically anything you pour down the drain invariably ends up in our water supply. Also, farm runoff contributes to the contamination of tap water as well as illegal dumping and industrial waste. As far as the health effects, chlorine has been linked to cancer and believe it or not heart disease. Chlorine scars our arteries allowing cholesterol to get trapped inside those scars. And when chemicals, in small amounts, combine in our tap water, they become even more harmful to us. Our immune systems can only handle so much intoxication.

Sutekh: So these chemicals and toxins are in the public water supply, in the taps and showers in our homes and many people in urban areas in particular don’t drink from the tap at all. Some people put stockings over the tap to filter the water it’s so dirty. So they revert to only drinking bottled water, is bottled water safer for us?

JH: Now, that’s the million dollar question. Some brands of bottled water can be safe, depending on the purification methods that were used to purify it. However, the reality is that most brands of bottled water are no better than tap. In fact, they can be even more contaminated because of the plastic containers. The chemicals in some plastic bottles have been known to leech into the bottled water. Those chemicals are called phthlates, which are carcinogenic. Also. bottled water is considered a food and regulated by the FDA, unlike tap water which is regulated under the much stricter guidelines of the EPA.

Sutekh: So essentially the oversight for bottled water is less intensive than the public water supply, and the public water is extremely hazardous. That’s pretty scary. You mention plastics leeching into the bottled water. I’ve seen canteens that advertise not having these harmful plastics. What are the safest forms of water to drink in terms of filtration techniques and what should water be stored in so as to not be contaminated with these plastics?

JH:The safest containers to store water are either glass or stainless steel canteens. There are also some plastic bottles that are phthalate-free and there are bottled water companies marketing them as such. That’s your next safest option. As far as techniques for purifying water, I recommend people use multi-stage carbon filtration systems. Those systems can safely remove any synthetic organic compounds, such as pharmaceutical drugs, and they can also remove the chlorine. In the book, I go into more detail about the criteria a consumer should use in purchasing a filtration system.

Sutekh: Vitally important information. I know you have things to attend to so I just want to ask you a couple of more questions. What is your ultimate goal for your organization thefreewaterreport.org and what can people expect when they sign up?

JH: My ultimate goal is to convince people that purifying water at home is not only healthier but also more economical and convenient than purchasing bottled water. I also want them to recognize that it’s better for our environment because 86% of plastic water bottles end up as litter. Thirdly my goal is raise $2,000,000 for WaterAid, a non-profit organization focused on helping poor countries secure safe drinking water and sanitation. 10% of the royalties from the book are being donated to them. And lastly, people can expect to receive health information on a variety of topics so that they can look and feel younger longer!

Sutekh:Thank you so much John for taking some time out to answer some of these important questions, How can people get in touch with you?

JH:I am glad to have had this opportunity to increase consumer awareness on this topic. People can contact me at support@thefreewatereport.org or call me at (848) 467-0695.

MSG: A Hidden toxin

So after doing searching for years about what is in foods that can contribute to the onset of dis-eases, and doing my best to just to eat raw food there are still some very sneaky but harmful food additives that go undetected. One of the most wide spread is MSG (Monosodium Glutemate). In almost every food that is in a box, can, bottle, or container contains this neurotoxin. Why is this? What exactly has MSG?

Why is this being used?

In 1957, two opthalmology residents, Lucas and Newhouse, were experimenting on mice to study a particular eye disorder.3 During this experiment they fed newborn mice MSG and discovered that all demonstrated widespread destruction of the inner nerve layer of the retina. Similar destruction was also seen in adult mice but not as severe as the newborns. The results of their experiment was published in the Archives of Opthalmology and soon forgotten. For ten years prior to this report, large amounts of MSG were being added not only to adult foods but also to baby foods in doses equal to those of the experimental animals.
Msg is an “excitotoxin”, it simply enhances flavor by overstimulating nerves. It is extremely cheap so if you have a product that doesn’t taste very good, or is “sugar free” or “diet” not only do you have a deadly chemi-kill like aspartame but on top of it there is MSG.

Here is a list of food additives that, according to Dr. Blaylock, secretly contain MSG:

Monosodium Glutamate
Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein
Hydrolyzed Protein
Hydrolyzed Plant Protein
Plant Protein Extract
Sodium Caseinate
Calcium Caseinate
Yeast Extract
Textured Protein (Including TVP)
Autolyzed Yeast
Hydrolyzed Oat Flour
Corn Oil

These are additives which FREQUENTLY contain MSG:

Malt Extract
Malt Flavoring
Bouillon
Broth
Stock
Flavoring
Natural Flavors/Flavoring
Natural Beef Or Chicken Flavoring
Seasoning
Spices

So as you can see it’s in almost everything you can buy. I was searching for a beverage the other day, and checked all the labels. “Natural flavors” were found in every single one except for onko’s white peach tea. I bought that and that may be the only beverage I can purchase knowing I’m not being bombarded with brain damaging toxins.

MSG linked to many dis-eases.

Dr. John Olney found that MSG has a severe impact on endocrine functions such as growth hormone deficiency and reproductive health. Russell L. Blaylock M.D. believes this excitotoxin is contributing to the skyrocketing neurlogical brain dis-eases like parkinson’s and alzheimers. The msg limits have been doubling each decade and ironically the cases of neurological brain dis-ease has risen along with it. More than a coincidence I believe.

How do I avoid
Unfortunately you need to consume a nearly raw diet, make your own drinks, and prepare your own food. Id like to emphasis the point again that people must be conscious buyers. Some frozen meals contain all ingredients you can pronounce and contain nothing with a suspicious name. You will have to do your homework as an individual to protect yourself because you as an individual are responsible for your own health at the end of the day. Thank you for reading-Sutekh

Cauliflower Steak with Quinoa

Tried this tonight. It’s excellent

Cauliflower steak with quinoa

2 large heads cauliflower, cut into 1-inch-thick “steaks”
Olive oil for coating and sauting
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup quinoa
1 1/2 cups vegetable stock, divided
2 shallots, sliced
1 leek, rinsed and sliced (white part only)
1 small apple, peeled and diced
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1/2 cup zucchini in 1/4-inch dice
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh thyme leaves
1 tablespoon finely chopped chives

For basil oil
2 cups well-washed basil leaves
1 cup grapeseed oil, chilled

To make the basil oil, blanche basil and then shock in ice water; dry leaves well. In a blender, pure basil and grapeseed oil; strain and set aside.

At the largest part of each cauliflower head, cut two 1-inch-thick slices, or “steaks.” Reserve remaining cauliflower. In a large saut pan coated with olive oil, brown the cauliflower steaks until golden brown on each side. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.

Over medium-low heat, sweat quinoa in 1 tablespoon olive oil until a nutty aroma is achieved. Turn down heat and add 1 cup stock; simmer until almost dry. Cover and let stand for 15 minutes. Fluff with a fork and set aside.
Cut remaining cauliflower into small florets and blanch in salted water until tender. Drain and spread florets on a baking sheet and place in a 300-degree oven for about 15 minutes, or until florets have dried.

In a saut pan, gently sweat the shallots, leek, apple and garlic. Add the cauliflower florets and season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat, place in blender, and pure. (You will only need a few teaspoons for this recipe. The remaining pure can be frozen or thinned with stock for a cauliflower soup.) In a large saut pan coated with oil, saute zucchini until slightly golden brown. Add quinoa and remaining vegetable stock. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add 2 teaspoons cauliflower pure to thicken, add thyme and chives, and drizzle with basil oil.

Plate by placing the cauliflower steak on bed of quinoa-and-zucchini mixture and drizzle the basil oil around the plate.

Serves four

The Fatal Concept of a “Job” Psychology

“Nature rewards producers and punishes consumers.”

When I stated this sentence to a Christian gentleman, he amazingly got the point. Even though we were coming from different perspectives, we were able to reach the same conclusion about our people and economic development. He even stated that if one were to study the Old Testament teachings, one would conclude that the “job” concept as we know it was not meant for humanity.

When the children of Israel were in the desert, the Universe had to destroy the slave psychology of the people in order for them to be “right” to enter the Promised Land. It took two generations to eradicate the behavior. Once they became truly free, they had to enter and conquer the present inhabitants to establish themselves. Then, the Universe taught them skill sets that made them producers of their daily bread, milk and honey.

As we witness what Alan Greenspan calls “The Age of Turbulence”, we must prepare for the world to come. We must be prepared to produce for ourselves again. How should we interpret this “age of turbulence”? Is this our opportunity to cross the Red Sea while Pharaoh’s armies are drowned? Are we ready for “life without Pharaoh”?

Part of the reason why I’ve pushed for the aggressive pursuit of entrepreneurship (especially children) is to become masters of our own economic fate. The fatal concept of the “job psychology” reminds me of the child that refuses to evolve into adulthood. When the mother eagle begins kicking her eaglets out of the nest, she knows that they will have to learn to “do for self” or die in the wilderness. Animals use game theory to teach their children life lessons and skill sets that will serve them as adults in the wild. In the human world, we have violated those laws by conditioning ourselves and our children to look for some “sugar daddy” (corporation) to take care of them for 30-40 years and pay for our medical assistance in our “golden years” (which doesn’t even provide a lot of gold to make our elders feel social or secure).

If you are working now, begin to treat it as an apprenticeship. You should NEVER look to stay on someone’s plantation for ALL your adult years. Most apprenticeships usually last 4-5 years. Once that learning experience is completed, the apprentice should be equipped with everything s/he needs to go and do for self and take on her own apprentice. That is how certain skill sets are kept within families and societies. If I’m a master woodworker, I should take on an apprentice or small group of students to teach them not only the woodworking craft, but the business side of woodworking as well. This is the natural order of creating “producers” as opposed to the modern “consumer conditioning” that is taught in the “American FOOL System”.

So, as we witness the economic changing of the guard on this planet, let us focus on enhancing our business and financial literacy. When we seek an education, let it be one that will teach us how to produce our own daily bread, milk and honey. Instead of trying to make the world play checkers, we should focus on learning chess and join the ranks of those business and financial grandmasters that create opportunities for others.

Let Nature reward your production as you bring products and services of value to the marketplace and let Nature continue to punish those who choose to consume like swine and offer little to nothing in return.-Minister 8-ball

The power of frequencies.

Have you ever wondered why certain music or sounds can sooth the soul and other sounds can make you want to fight someone? How come a siren gets your full attention. These different sound frequencies are known as the ancient sofleggio and each one has an impact on you at the cellular level whether you know it or not.

The frequencies

There are six sofleggio frequencies:
UT – 396 Hz – Liberating Guilt and Fear
RE – 417 Hz – Undoing Situations and Facilitating Change
MI – 528 Hz – Transformation and Miracles (DNA Repair)
FA – 639 Hz – Connecting/Relationships
SOL – 741 Hz – Awakening Intuition
LA – 852 Hz – Returning to Spiritual Order

On the left where you see the UT, RE, MI etc. That is the original vocal scale. The one you are used to hearing: Do,re,mi fa,sol, la, ti, do is a new modified version of the ancient solfeggio scale.

Dna repair, healing, and influence.

Dr. Robert Girard believes that playing the Key of C (528hz) on an instrument like the piano can activate and ultimately heal mutated DNA. The idea behind this is that every cell is an electric conduit that can be influenced by sound waves (Ernst Chladni proved that sounds can actually create visible waves.) Think about how listening to certain artists voices make you feel a certain way. The frequency of their voices slows your heart rate down. Some make you want to get up and dance. The octave and note they sing in or play their instrument may “heal the soul”. These solfeggio tones stimulate our cells to react a certain way. Your cells can be programmed ( after all DNA is in every cell) through sound waves. This is why the tell-lie-vision is something that I’m eager to watch. Whether it’s industrial age financial advise, fear mongering, or outright lies, TV emits frequencies that now as a conscious person I feel harm me. The TV frequencies have many people locked in, some people I know say that can’t sleep with out the tv on. The saying “glued to the TV” applies to many people as well. The tv emits frequencies that lower alpha waves and put you into a meditative state, but without the benefits of meditation. It’s like staring at a wall instead. This is a case of frequencies putting you to sleep.

To be continued.

Quinoa seitan wrap.

Good recipe, pretty quick and simple if you’re on the move.

Quinoa Wrap

* 1 cup Quinoa flour – Extra Fine
* 1 1/8 cup Water
* 1 tbsp Egg Replacement Powder
* 1 tbsp Baking Powder (gluten free)
* ½ tsp Salt
* ½ tsp Pepper

Add all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth. If the mixture cannot be poured into a pan then add a tablespoon of water at a time until the consistence become that of a thick shake.

eat large frying pan on medium and coat evenly with oil of choice. Pour a small amount of the Quinoa batter into the pan and working quickly, spread thinly across the entire bottom surface. When bubbles start to emerge on the surface of the Quinoa batter, gentle turn over and brown the other side – 2 or 3 minutes. Remove from pan and lay on the surface of a dinner plate. Can be made in advance. Double or triple the recipe and freeze. A nutritious wrap for your favorite vegetarian/vegan filling.

* 1 pkg Wheat seitan or tempeh
* 1 Tbsp Cold Pressed Olive Oil
* 1 Sweet Onion
* 1 Small Yellow Pepper
* Pinch of Salt
* Pinch of Pepper
Heat frying pan on Medium and add Olive Oil, Sweet Onion and Yellow Pepper. Stir until sweating and add meat alternative. Cook approximately 15-20 minutes, turning the “meat” periodically.
Remove from pan and cut “meat” into pieces. On one side of the Quinoa Wrap, add sliced turkey, top with Onion Marmalade, add two or 3 long slices of English Cucumber, a few sprigs of curly parsley. Starting from the side where the food has been placed, roll the Quinoa Wrap tightly.

Cut in two pieces on the diagonal. Serve with seasonal fresh veggies from your local market or greenhouse.

Hemp: Healthiest source of protein available and so much more.

As vegans and raw foodists people always want to know how we get our protein(amino acids). Grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes provide the complete amino complex necessary to create protein. Hemp powder, hemp seeds happen to be the most nutritious  protein sources though. I will tell you why.

Lean, green, and no casein.

Clearly the most popular protein shake/supplement is whey protein. Step into any gym environment and there will be a few people chugging whey protein shakes. The problem with whey besides it being an animal byproduct is that it contains casein. Casein has been linked directly to cancer as well as many other dis-eases. Animal proteins like casein in whey, cause acidic intestinal conditions which can lead to dis-ease due to poor nutrient absorption.

To avoid all of that and reap huge benefits try using hemp protein. Hemp contains all 20 essential amino acids to create protein.  It contains the perfect EFA ratio and is high in fiber. It’s an alkaline plant food that helps to prevent dis-eases. This is the perfect protein nutrient for athletes. I use it in conjuntion with maca and cacao powder in fruit smoothies. Using this hemp powder in fruit smoothies packs a nutritional punch that simply smashes whey protein shakes which are cancer inducing, fattening and acid building.

Hemp is easy on  the environment.

Whey protein is a milk product and to get milk you need lots of cows. That means lots of manure and lots of co2 gases. Hemp can grow in harsh conditions. Low rainfall, very resistant to disease and sun. Doesn’t require the use of pesticide. Much more efficient for making paper than trees since trees grow for centuries and take very long to reach a harvest level. Hemp also produces up to 3 times as much fiber as an acre of cotton. Unfortunately the U.S. government views hemp as a drug and it’s not cultivated here, but hemp  products for nutritional purposes are available to purchase here.

It’s an green alkaline source of protein. It can produce paper and clothes. The possibilities are endless. It’s a shame that it gets a bad rap for manifesting marijuana buds when the benefits are so bountiful. We still can get all the nutritional benefits from hemp however, and it would be wise to consider making hemp a protein staple. Thank you for reading-Sutekh

Green Living: Improving Health For Today and Tomorrow

Much attention has been paid in recent years to what seems to be a growing environmental conscience in the United States. Going green used to be considered expensive and a luxury for those who could afford the trend. Now it appears that we are learning that not only is adopting more environmentally conscious attitudes good for our economic situation, but also our….health? Yes, if we dig a bit deeper we can see that dirty industries and backwards policy is actually harming the health of the earth for our children and the health of her inhabitants today.

How Does Environmental Policy Affect Public Health?
There are two levels of health consequences associated with dirty industry, both direct and indirect. The direct consequences are examples like increased asthma rates in areas with high smog indices. Chlorofluorocarbon release into the atmosphere has shown to decrease the filter of direct sunlight on the planet, resulting in more concentrated ultraviolet light reaching the surface of the earth. Perhaps it is no surprise then that in countries with depleted atmospheric gas, skin cancer rates are among the highest in the world.
The indirect health consequences are harder to see immediately, but closer examination reveals that these are, in fact, perhaps the most hazardous. Bi-products of dirty and backwards industries, such as coal and oil processing, include cancer causing substances like asbestos and benzene. A U.K. study conducted in 2002 indicated that coal and oil industry workers are at a much higher risk of developing pericardial mesothelioma (associated with asbestos exposure) and leukemia (traced to benzene and heavy-metal exposure). Dr. Robert Taub among many other doctors who specialize in this area understand that these are substances that can be directly traced to antiquated pre-regulation equipment in industries whose environmental hazards are even more inherent.
Can we really afford to continue on the path we were on before? Investment in clean industry means not a healthier planet for our children and grandchildren, but also a healthier place for us to live today.
